Summary: Sojourn is designed with your privacy in mind. Account and trip records use Google Firebase for sign-in, syncing and existing shared features. New private memory and journal photos are protected on your device; optional private iCloud recovery copies are off by default. Public/shared spot photos and legacy cloud media retain their existing cloud behavior. Account-linked crash diagnostics help us fix app failures. We do not sell your data, run ads, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Service processing includes Google Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Storage and Crashlytics; Apple Maps and optional iCloud Drive; and existing user-requested mailbox connections. Shared/public content is visible according to the sharing choices you make. External sharing sends the content you explicitly choose to its destination. Affiliate links may earn a commission; partners receive information you choose to provide after opening their service, under their own policies.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Device recovery copies survive sign-out and trip-cache eviction until scoped cleanup. Device-only photos can be lost if the app is deleted or the device is lost; use optional iCloud recovery copies or explicit Files exports to protect them. Historical recovery copies are not a live deletion mirror.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Account → Delete account removes app-managed account data through client cleanup and an authoritative Firebase account-deletion cascade, including stored cloud media. It also clears scoped device originals and app-managed private iCloud recovery copies under the bound Apple Account. If that Apple Account is unavailable, the app reports the cleanup issue rather than claiming success. Files exports, other-device offline copies and user-managed device backups remain under your control and are not remotely erased by the app. You can also explicitly remove iCloud recovery copies while retaining device originals.

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.
